Stainless Steel 321 Pipe Reducer
SS 321 Pipe Reducer is utilized to connect pipes in different sizes and often used in horizontal pipes. It has the functions of change the diameter and stabilize the fluid, and avoid the bad effect of liquid or gas accumulation on pipeline. It is a common fittings in pipe systems.
There are two types that Concentric and Eccentric Reducer.
Stainless Steel Butt Weld Fittings
They are also available in Stainless Steel Elbow, Equal Tee, Reducing Tee, Pipe Cap, SS 321 Pipe Reducer and Stainless Steel Weldolet. They are made by seamless or welded pipe. It is most common and preferred fittings due to the cost and mechanical.
Why Choose Stainless Steel Reducer
Stainless steel is not only resistant to corrosion, but also has the function of cleanliness. It can eliminate smell. Therefore, it can be used in high safe requirement piping systems, such as food processing industry.
Another major reason that its strength. The tensile strength ranges from 515 to 827 Mpa. And it is materials with low thermal conductivity of around 11.2 to 36.7 W/m-K.
There are two types that stainless steel seamless reducer and welded reducer. Stainless steel welded reducer is cheaper than seamless. But need to do Nondestructive Testing, to make sure no leak.
The normal and common stainless steel reducers are SS304 Concentric Reducer Seamless BW and SS316 Eccentric Reducer Welded. SS 321 Pipe Reducer is a little special and out of stock.

Usage
- When the flow rate in the pipe changes (increase or decrease), but not changes much, eccentric reducer should be adopted.
- At the pump inlet, it is required to prevent cavitation.
- The joint with meters or valves, such as flow meter or regulating valve. In order to match up with the joint, eccentric reducer should also be used.
Eccentric Reducer Installation
Eccentric reducers have top flat and bottom flat two types.
- In case of long horizontal pipe runs, air pockets are avoided by installing the eccentric reducer with the flat side up. When the source of supply is above the pump, then eccentric reducers must be placed with the flat side at the bottom.
- Top flat eccentric reducer is generally used in gas phase pipelines to prevent gas pockets.
- Bottom flat eccentric reducer is commonly used in liquid phase pipelines such as pipe racks to avoid liquid accumulation.
